Head of the Nene

What I hear you say do GRC scullers do when there is too much water in the local rivers?
Well a cunning plan was hatched to take a few singles on the roof racks and nip up the M1.  5 singles & a double later and we had a new plan.
After a quick loading session on Thursday. Some of us went up Friday straight from work. The support team then went off to stay with family close by & had a few well-earned drinks to get over rush hour traffic (that’s my excuse)
Saturday morning for the others was a quick trip up the M1. Pete gave a pre decimal currency history lesson to Kate & Jackie & Paul gave Xander the musical equivalent. Do we need a risk assessment done on in car race talk?
A nice sunny fresh day with a stiff head wind greeted us as we arrived in the car park.
Division 1 had 4 GRC entries.
Toby (where’s my boat? Oh Jackie’s nicked it) was first on the water being chased by Pete, Kate & Jackie (that wind is strong & where did those reeds come from). Division 2 The WS4 winning double was followed by Xander & Paul (first pot of the day). The singles scared the opposition into 1 capsize & 1 boat ½ a length up the bank. The GRC cheerleaders were now getting into action.
Mid morning break and Pete was off trying to sell his boat or was he just chatting up the GB squad again?
Division 3 & another winning double chasing the 2 singles. Toby (I’ve got 13 back) had a much faster time but had strong opposition. Xander had another solid row to pick up his first medal in a single.
Another good set of results & pots + a good day out.

Topic of the day:
Has Paul told you about his new blades & his 2 pots?

WS4 double would like to thank the marshals for stopping them from boating with no heal restraints. It gave them time to spot the rigger with no nuts!!

Thanks also to Paul, Pete & Richard for transporting the boats & crew.
